about

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”- Rilke

Find you Way was written as we crossed Europe from Southern Italy, across Holland, Sweden, Norway... playing music everywhere we traveled to, feeling BOTH deeply connected and very far away from our homes. It was crafted from the rooftop garden of al old Amsterdam squat, watching the full moon rise in the urban beauty and decay, and feeling the rush of a bike and solitude in a place so full of beautiful people... and it was at that moment when I was feeling deeply touched to do our work in the world, and also deeply lonely in its commitment. It was written as a reminder to myself, and in turn to all of us that when those moments come up that you are unsure, or unsettled, or feeling lost...that patience is invaluable. That the commitment to just keep moving forward will bring so many answers to your life...

like Caminando: to just keep walking towards the sun.

It is a song of place.
a song about patience.
and a song of identity.
a reminder to just keep going...

lyrics

Find Your Way

I am certain we are ready
standing firm, feet planted steady
and I know this world is heavy
arms loaded, drawn back, gaze steady...

of my vision I speak my tongue
I learn to steer my pace, my run
I leave no trace but the moments come
and we'll build bridges for our daughters and our sons
...
Find your way, find your way
whether you fumble or stand graceful darlin'
find your way
Find your way, find your way
whether you fumble or stand graceful darlin'
find your way

when you rise you move your feet, find your pulse and find your beat
walk the walk and don't retreat, and we will rise as one complete
when you rise you move your feet, find your pulse and find your beat
walk the walk and don't retreat, and we will rise as one complete

As our right we claim our truth
lift 'em up and love our youth
hold em high in mighty shoes and
teach them strength and let them choose
...

Find your way, find your way
whether you fumble or stand graceful darlin'
find your way
Find your way, find your way
whether you fumble or stand graceful darlin'
find your way

Live our truth our kingdom come
I don't need to walk or run
I can skip straight to the sun
and when I'm lost ill find my way
I listen to the words of Mr. Slie
"root yourself before you fly
member all those whose words true and
fake it till you make it, pull on through"

fake it till you make it fake it till you make it...

...

Find your way, find your way
whether you fumble or stand graceful darlin'
find your way
Find your way, find your way
whether you fumble or stand graceful darlin'
find your way

about

Rising Appalachia

Rising Appalachia’s soulful folk-roots trace back to grassroots communities of the Deep South and the realism of Atlanta's kaleidoscopic '90s rap underground. Chloe and Leah Smith eventually welcomed multi-instrumentalist David Brown, percussionist Biko Casini, and fiddler/cellist Duncan Wickel to the project. Rising Appalachia spreads musical catharsis with an iridescent elixir of global soul. ... more
